Metabolic health may be influenced by liver fat, study says

A study of pairs of twins in which one was obese and the other thin suggested fat accumulation in the liver may be a measure of metabolically healthy obesity, University of Helsinki researchers said. The report in Diabetologia found twins who had similar levels of liver fat had equally healthy metabolic profiles, while obese twins with higher levels of liver fat had higher insulin resistance, inflammation and dyslipidemia.
