Metabolic health may be influenced by liver fat, study says

A study of pairs of identical twins in which one was obese and the other thin suggested fat accumulation in the liver may be a measure of metabolically healthy obesity, University of Helsinki researchers said. The report in Diabetologia found twins with similar liver fat levels had equivalently healthy metabolic profiles, while obese twins with higher levels of liver fat had higher insulin resistance, inflammation and dyslipidemia.
