Park hotels suffering the most from government shutdown

The U.S. tourism industry continues to feel the effects of the government shutdown that began last week, and Washington hotels and properties that cater to visitors at national parks are seeing the most significant declines in business. Several industry leaders, such as Marriott CEO Arne Sorenson, have voiced their concern on the issue. "The impacts ripple well beyond Washington, D.C., and past U.S. borders. ... Just like in each of the last few years, we are confronted with a failure of our political leadership that threatens an economy that wants to turn the corner to higher growth and employment," Sorenson said in a post on LinkedIn.
