Qualcomm hopes to broker peace in war of charging standards

Qualcomm, a backer of the A4WP standard for charging wireless devices, has joined the two competing camps in hopes of convincing them of the advances of its resonance technology. Qualcomm, whose Alliance for Wireless Power specification is dueling with the Power Matters Alliance (PMA) and the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), expressed optimism that it can convince the rivals of resonance's superiority. "We're going to help drive the industry...toward an A4WP specification. We felt it was in the best interest of the A4WP to join these other forums to help harmonize a single spec across multiple entities," said Qualcomm's Mark Hunsicker.
