Study: Thyroid cancer might contribute to CVD death risk

A Dutch study revealed patients who had differentiated thyroid cancer were more than three times as likely to die from cardiovascular disease as those without cancer, and their risk of all-cause mortality was more than four times as high. The findings highlight the "importance of a close follow-up and could encourage assessment and treatment of cardiovascular risk factors during follow-up for [the cancer]," researchers wrote in the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
