Talking to nurses can help mothers of preemies avert anxiety, depression

A small study found that mothers of preterm infants who had about five one-on-one discussions with a NICU nurse about their concerns reported reduced symptoms of depression and anxiety. "These mothers are stressed out, and they need someone to listen to them," study author Lisa Segre said. The findings were reported in the Journal of Perinatology.
