Tiny lab plays a big role in U.S. military deployments

A small, three-person shop thousands of miles from any battlefield regularly turns out custom parts and products designed for everything from saving lives to mundane military uses. The U.S. Army's Medical Prototype Development Laboratory at Fort Detrick, Md., fashions "real products [that are] making a real difference," said shop supervisor and mechanical engineer Mark Brown.
