CBOT may seek merger, alliance with LME, Observer says

The Chicago Board of Trade is considering a plan to buy the London Metal Exchange in an attempt to counter "the growing ties" between the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the New York Mercantile Exchange, according to London's Observer newspaper. In the meantime, Bloomberg News reports that buying a membership in LME has proved to be a better investment than buying any of the commodities that are traded on the exchange.
