Govt. agencies to collect $1.47 billion in Medicare fraud

An effort of the Department of Justice and Office of the Inspector General at the Department of Health and Human Services will net $1.47 billion collected as a result of criminal or civil cases involving Medicare fraud brought in the fiscal year 2005. The agencies also have put $8.85 billion into the Medicare trust fund since their efforts began in 1997.
