Nielsen drops plan to give one rating to original airing, rebroadcast

Nielsen, in response to client complaints, has decided to scrap its recently adopted policy to allow networks to report one rating for a show that's rebroadcast, to allow for DVR and other time-shifted viewings. The policy change followed NBC's use of it to record one rating for two airings of "Heroes," both with Nissan as the sole sponsor; now Nielsen will report separate ratings for original airings and reruns.
