Health care groups issue infection control guidelines

New infection control guidelines for hospitals call for vigorous hand washing by caregivers, using disinfectants to regularly clean ICU patients and removing catheters as soon as patients do not need them. The guidelines, which were developed by top epidemiological societies, have support from the American Hospital Association and the Joint Commission.
