Movie ads to be shown during Oscars

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has voted to allow movie studios to advertise new releases during the Oscars -- next airing Feb. 22 on ABC -- ending a 50-year prohibition on such ads. The Academy hopes the rule-change will help generate similar buzz -- and ad rates -- as the Super Bowl's spots, and serve as a showcase for the studios' major summer and holiday releases.
