Retailers look to supply chains to curb costs

Retailers are seeking innovative ways to manage costs and increase profits by taking better control of their supply chains. Faced with higher transportation expenses, IKEA moved a manufacturing plant closer to its customers while other retailers are looking to technological solutions. "From a broader perspective, in the supply chain, there is a renewed focus on looking at the entire supply chain from the planning process to sourcing to transportation and really trying to be as efficient on that and cut days out," said NRF's Dave Hogan.
