MIT graduates develop roof tiles that change color

A group of recent graduates of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed a tile designed to absorb heat in the winter and reflect it in the summer by changing color. When the tiles are white, they could reduce cooling costs by up to 20%, according to studies. The group is working to develop the tile into a marketable product. They note that because tiles' materials are common and inexpensive, it could be marketed at a price similar to traditional roofing materials.
