FDA OKs diabetes, cholesterol combo drug

Merck & Co. secured marketing approval from the FDA for Juvisync, a treatment containing the firm's type 2 diabetes pill Januvia and cholesterol-lowering statin simvastatin. The combination was approved for marketing in multiple strengths. "Dose selection should factor in what other drugs the patient is taking," said FDA official Dr. Mary H. Parks.
