Fitch downgrades credit ratings of Spain and Italy

Fitch Ratings cut Spain's credit rating by two notches, surprising financial markets, and lowered Italy's rating by one notch. Moody's Investors Service put Belgium's Aa1 credit rating on review for a possible cut. Moody's also dropped the credit ratings of a dozen UK lenders and nine Portuguese banks.
