Poll shows high incidence of hypoglycemia in diabetes patients

Data from the Global Attitudes of Patients and Physicians survey revealed 80% of type 2 diabetes patients on insulin therapy suffered from self-treated hypoglycemia and 36% experienced a hypoglycemic episode within the last month. Researchers also found 46% of such patients increased their blood glucose monitoring after the last episode and more than 10% changed their long-acting insulin regime. The findings were presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes meeting.
