2 Ky. utilities propose construction of new power plant

A new power plant and a solar facility are being planned for Kentucky to help replace power that will lost when old coal-fired plants close. Louisville Gas and Electric and Kentucky Utilities say the power plant, which will cost about $700 million, will use combined-cycle technology and will have an output of 700 megawatts of power, and create several hundred construction jobs in Western Kentucky, according to the companies.
