Bullet-shaped sub being developed for commercial uses

Researchers at the University of Washington are developing a bullet-shaped, manned submersible in hopes of reaching depths of almost two miles below the ocean's surface, and is expected to be available for commercial use in 2016. OceanGate, a submarine charter company based in Everett, Wash., gave the university $5 million to develop the sub, dubbed Cyclops for its large domed window. Academic researchers, deep-sea mining companies and the oil and gas industry are among Cyclops' targeted customers.
