There's little that annoys British advertising executive John Hegarty more than the sight of creative workers wandering around with headphones on. Blocking out the world around you is antithetical to real creativity, Hegarty explains. "If you walk around cutting yourself off, you are eliminating influence. You are eliminating the possibility you are going to pick up stories, ideas, thoughts that are happening all around you," he says. "As a creative person, that's all wrong."
