Diverse transportation infrastructure and increased accessibility, high-performance buildings and on-site renewable energy systems are among the 12 essential elements that will help the cities of the future be green, writes Paul Hewins, executive vice president and area general manager for Skanska USA Building. "Every day, improvements are being made to our cities to make them more energy efficient, less wasteful and healthier for all inhabitants," Hewins notes. "As these twelve points illustrate, the completely green city will take a multifaceted effort on behalf of the government, consumers, builders and designers."
