Studying how wind affects invasive species

Jon Thayn, an assistant professor of geography at Illinois State University, will research how the movements of gypsy moths and other invasive species are affected by wind. The project will incorporate both satellite imagery and contributions from students, who will chart infestation on certain islands. A $150,000 grant from the National Science Foundation will help finance the project.
