Tenn. flying club organizes event to promote GA, protect pilots' rights

A Chattanooga, Tenn.-based flying club is organizing an event for Oct. 19 to promote general aviation and protect pilots' rights. The Open Ramp Concert will take place at Chattanooga's Lovell Field and will feature E.G. Kight. "The Moccasin Flying Club has been hit hard by the recent recession," said Craig Tyndall. "Fuels costs are high, and the airport has added badge fees and ramp charges that tend to scare away most private pilots. ... We are working on making general aviation attractive to a new generation of pilots by planning Saturday events like this, where participants can meet local pilots, get close to an airplane and ask questions."
