Medical groups devise guidelines for heart-disease drugs

The American College of Cardiology, the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Heart Association developed guidelines aimed at preventing complications caused by medicines including nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and anti-platelets for patients with heart disease. The recommendations call on providers to evaluate patients' risk factors prior to treatment to reduce chances of developing ulcers and gastrointestinal bleeding.
