Panning for gold with online video

A host of Washington, D.C.-area companies such as Discovery Communications, Clearspring Technologies and TidalTV are competing to find the most successful advertising business models for online video. According to online research firm eMarketer, there's plenty of potential out there: The company predicts online video ad spending, which is worth about $505 million now, could hit the $1-billion mark by 2010.
