Clean-tech startups are scrambling to secure funding, analysts say

The combined effects of economic turmoil, tight credit and lack of energy-and-climate reform are making it difficult for clean-technology entrepreneurs to secure funding that would allow them to ramp up production, financial managers said. Biofuel companies Codexis and Amyris were among just three clean-tech startups that managed to launch initial public offerings this year. "We're in a difficult market for initial public offerings, clean tech or otherwise," said Brian Bolster, Goldman Sachs' chief of alternative-energy investment banking.
