Rig activities affected data monitoring ahead of blast, contractor says

Simultaneous activities on Transocean's Deepwater Horizon rig made it hard for workers to monitor critical data during the last hour before the vessel exploded in April, said John Gisclair, a support-services coordinator for a Halliburton subsidiary. Speaking to the federal oil-spill panel, Gisclair said employees were "pretty close to blind."
