Boy scratched while feeding raccoon may face rabies risk

Pinellas County, Fla., Health Department officials are trying to find a young boy who may have been exposed to rabies when a raccoon clawed the child at a park. A park employee who observed the incident, which occurred when the child was feeding the animal, urged the accompanying adult to seek medical attention for the child, but the man left and did not provide contact information. "It's precautionary," said Maggie Hall, a spokeswoman for the Health Department. "You have to assume the worst."
