Geographer: Evidence is mounting for man-made global warming

The U.S. has experienced a remarkable run of warm weather, and while this cannot be definitively tied to man-made global warming, evidence for the phenomenon is mounting, writes Glen M. MacDonald in this opinion piece. Skeptics continue to debate the causes of warming and argue that temperatures will not rise significantly, writes MacDonald, a geography professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. However, research suggests otherwise, MacDonald writes. "The question is no longer whether the climate will change because of increased greenhouse gases. Now we have to ask what we can do about it, and how much we can afford to spend."
