Obama campaign tells supporters to hang tough

Democrats entered "primal panic mode" on Tuesday as polls showed Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney overtaking President Barack Obama nationally and closing the gap in key swing states. The Obama campaign sought to reboot with a series of tough new attacks on the GOP candidate and called for progressives to get over their disappointment and gird for battle. "That's my party: irrational overconfidence followed by irrational despair," said Democratic strategist Jim Jordan.
