API urges withdrawal of draft sulfur content rules for refiners

The American Petroleum Institute again urged the Environmental Protection Agency to abandon its draft rules that would require refiners to sharply reduce sulfur content in gasoline by 2017, saying such policies would be costly and could even raise refinery emissions. This is an "agenda based not on science, economics or common sense," said Patrick Kelly, a senior policy adviser at API.
