Armed robots with live ammunition have been on display this week at the Fort Benning, Ga., Army base as four companies demonstrate the state-of-the-art in technology intended to eventually put the weaponized machines on the battlefield. The goal of the outing is to show how these machines can negotiate varying terrains while carrying loads and acting autonomously. "Sometimes we have lofty dreams about what we can do. This shows us what's actually available," said Keith Singleton, chief of the Unmanned Systems Team for the Maneuver Battle Lab at Fort Benning.
