Crowdsourced performance reviews can cause legal issues

Many companies are resorting to crowdsourced performance appraisals, but the practice may cause legal headaches, experts say. Employers use performance reviews as the "first line of defense" in discrimination claims, and peer reviews "will likely distort the truth," especially if they are done via social networking, says Nesheba Kittling, an employment lawyer.
