Sustainability can -- and should -- be the watchword at luxury hotels, says Jumeirah Hotels CEO Gerald Lawless. At his Dubai luxury hotel chain, for example, the company is working to shrink its carbon footprint, recycle a wide range of materials and help rehabilitate endangered hawksbill turtles who are found injured on beaches nearby. "All large hotel companies, and that includes Jumeirah, are very keen to do the right thing with regards to the environment because we appreciate the benefit," Lawless said. "It's good housekeeping anyway, and both our guests and employees are enthusiastic about it."
