Exec seeks changes in U.S. pipeline grid to accommodate shale gas resources

The U.S. pipeline grid needs to undergo changes to keep up with shale oil and natural gas production, said David Devine, president of central regional natural gas pipelines at Kinder Morgan and new chairman of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America. "Marcellus production has changed things dramatically for a pipeline grid that was focused primarily on moving gas from south to north and west to east," he said. Pipeline firms play a crucial role to get these resources to markets, Devine said.
