FTC urged to examine practice of cross-device tracking

The Federal Trade Commission is being urged to look into companies that trace consumers' behavior across smartphones, tablets and PCs. The practice raises privacy issues, said Sen. Edward Markey, D-Mass. "Such tracking envelops users in a digital environment where marketers know their preferences and personal information no matter which device they use while consumers are kept largely in the dark," he said in a letter to the FTC.
