Scientists ponder how to handle data from baby genome mapping

Scientists in Boston, San Francisco, Chapel Hill, N.C., and Kansas City, Mo., will be working on an NIH-funded project to map newborns' genomes in an effort to explore different ways the technology might be used. Two studies will explore the kinds of information parents want about their babies, one will identify gene sets important in childhood, and one will test whether rapid gene-mapping can speed diagnosis of sick infants.
