Study finds rare gene mutations in families with eating disorders

Two gene mutations may be linked to a higher risk of eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia, researchers from the University of Iowa and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center reported in the Journal of Clinical Investigation. The study included two families that had high rates of eating disorders and found a rare mutation in each family line.
