New York City schools have begun administering standardized exams aligned with the Common Core State Standards to kindergartners. Teachers say testing the young students has been challenging as many do not yet know their letters -- making it difficult to answer multiple-choice questions. In other cases, teachers said the students were trying to help each other with the tests because they misunderstood they were supposed to work independently.
