U.K. firm may not tear down closed Va. ethanol plant

U.K.-based Vireol, which bought a closed barley-to-ethanol plant in Hopewell, Va., is now considering opening the plant instead of dismantling parts of it for use in constructing a plant in England, said J. Andrew Hagy, the city's economic development director. Vireol's interest in opening the plant came about after company officials found that its equipment was in better condition than initially thought, and because of delays in the U.K. project, Hagy said.
