Hotel giants seek success in boutique brands

Some of the nation's largest hotel companies are entering the niche market of boutique hotels, with groups including Starwood Hotels & Resorts, InterContinental Hotel Group and Choice Hotels International each announcing plans to either introduce new boutique brands or expand designer hotels. Starwood is aggressively expanding its upscale W hotel brand and InterContinental is launching its first Hotel Indigo boutique brand in Atlanta this month.
