After three-year decline, student numbers up in Anchorage

Enrollment in the Anchorage school district is at least 300 students higher than anticipated this school year, an increase that could trigger an additional $1.5 million in state support. The jump in student numbers may be due to new programs aimed at discouraging dropouts and to home-schooled and private school students' return to public schools.
