Casual-dining sector makes menu changes to boost sales

Panera Bread and Applebee's International are among the growing number of chains infusing their menus with new selections to better their financial position, while other chains are turning to stock buyback programs or stake sales. The casual-dining segment also is being pressured by the quickservice industry, which is becoming more fast casual, an analyst for RBC Capital Markets said.
