Google still leads Microsoft in ads, search, Ballmer says

Microsoft has "broadened" its business beyond its core desktop software to span advertising, online services, entertainment and mobile applications, but it is still playing catch-up to rival Google in search and advertising, according to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. "In world search and advertising, Google is the leader; we're an aspirant," Ballmer said. "We have a lot of work to do in search and advertising."
