Schumer to DOT: Hold talks on congestion

Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., wants the Transportation Department to address air delays by arranging a meeting of airlines to coordinate schedule cuts and by renegotiating civilian use of offshore military airspace with the Pentagon. A DOT spokesman said necessary paperwork was being processed in anticipation of such a meeting. "This is low-hanging fruit," Schumer said. "It's a mystery why they're not doing this, given how bad things are."
