Study: Liver disease risk increases with high GI diet

The risk for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease may be higher for people who eat high glycemic index diets compared with people who eat low GI foods, a new study found. Researchers said high GI diets spur insulin secretion, which may lead to fatty buildup around the liver and, subsequently, conditions such as hepatitis, cirrhosis and other liver-related conditions.
