New England franchisees see opportunity in proven names

Franchisees in New England, as in other parts of the country, like the support of a proven brand name and business model. Owners of a Subway restaurant, a Sonic Drive-in and a Snip-its children's hair salon all said they purchased franchises because there would be less risk than starting a new business. The International Franchise Association estimates a 1% drop in new franchises because of the tight credit situation.
