Living walls surge in popularity

Living walls appear to be gaining popularity, with buildings as diverse as Minto Plaza in Ottawa, Canada, and Ann Demeulemeester's retail store in Seoul, South Korea, which have adopted walls that are topped with living plants. Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pa., is taking the lead on green walls, with more than 4,000 square feet of vegetative surface that includes 47,000 plants.
