Panel approves "little GAAP" plan

Private companies would get their own accounting standards as well as a new accounting oversight board under a proposal endorsed by a panel of experts Friday. The standards would offer simpler recording and disclosure requirements than the current generally accepted accounting principles. A report in December will provide more information on the proposal, the panel announced.
