Jobs, environment could both gain with BNSF's $500M project

Seven years have passed since BNSF introduced the idea of building a $500 million loading facility at the Port of Los Angeles. Since then, there have been meetings but no approval or rejection, writes Jim Newton, editor-at-large of the Los Angeles Times. It's time for Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to take the lead and support the project, exhorts Newton. "The environment stands to gain, and jobs await," he says.
